Lochaber is a centre renowned for all kinds of outdoor activities. Fort William is most famous for being at the base of Britain’s highest peak, Ben Nevis, but it is also the gateway to walks in Glen Nevis, one of the most picturesque of all glens.
9 miles north is Spean Bridge where there is a different landscape. From Spean Bridge one can walk to see the Parallel “Roads” of Glen Roy or continue east to Loch Laggan and the mighty precipices of Creag Meagaith.
The Great Glen Way.
Scenic and mostly low level long distance walk covering 127km. It runs from Fort William to Inverness. Join the walk at Gairlochy, 3 miles from Spean Bridge.
East Highland Way
A new long distant walk that connects Fort William with the ski and mountain resort of Aviemore. In doing so it also connects Scotland’s existing long distant walks, The West highland Way & The Great Glen Way, to the Speyside Way in the North East.
The Spring and Summer months are perfect for a fishing trip to Scotland, as you can admire the glistening sun on the water and hear the birds singing as you try and catch a bite.
Fishing in Scotland offers many hidden locations in secluded Highland glens and forests, with easy road access from Spean bridge, Fort William, Mallaig, Invergarry and the surrounding area. These offer excellent wild brown trout, Northern pike lochs and wild Atlantic salmon rivers in the stunning rugged mountain splendour only found in Scotland.
Should you wish to undertake any stalking or shooting we would recommend Achnacarry Sporting and Country Pursuits, located just 7 miles from Spean Bridge.
Whether you are an experienced shot or a complete beginner, Achnacarry Sporting can accommodate your needs. You can use a shotgun for clay pigeon shooting or a high velocity rifle for target shooting. Instruction can be given and all guns, ammunition and safety equipment are provided.
